M&M Cookie Mix in a Mason Jar

A jar of cookie mix is one of those gifts that never misses. It's thoughtful, it's useful, and it comes with the promise of warm cookies! Layer it up, tie on a ribbon, and you've got a gift that beats anything store-bought.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 TSP Baking Powder
  • 1/2 TSP Baking Soda
  • 1/4 TSP Salt
  • 1 Cup M&M's
  • 1/3 Cup Light Brown Sugar, Packed
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar

To Build the Jar as a Gift:

  1. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, then pour into the bottom of a 1-quart Mason jar (a rolled-up paper plate makes a handy funnel).
  2. Layer the M&M's on top; drop them in gently so they don't sink. Follow with the brown sugar, then the granulated sugar.
  3. Seal it up with a reCAP FLIP Lid so it's ready to gift or store.

Baking instructions to tuck in with the jar:

  1. Pour the jar's contents into a large bowl and stir.
  2. Add 1/2 cup just-melted (not hot) unsalted butter, 1 beaten egg, and 2 tsp vanilla extract; stir to combine, then chill 30 minutes.
  3. Drop by the heaping tablespoon onto lined baking sheets and bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes.

Give the gift a little extra polish: A reCAP FLIP Lid keeps every layer neat in transit and doubles as a reusable jar topper long after the cookies are gone. Shop the FLIP Lid →
