DIY Sidewalk Chalk (3 Ingredients, 5 Minutes)

Project time: 5 minutes

If you need something quick, cheap, and actually fun to do outside, this is it. This DIY sidewalk chalk takes about five minutes, uses ingredients you probably already have, and keeps kids busy longer than you'd expect.

Why this works: Just three simple ingredients, fast enough to make on the fly, easy for kids to help with, and washes away with water.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp warm water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • Food coloring

What you need:

How to make it:

  1. Add the warm water to a Mason jar.
  2. Add the cornstarch.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring.
  4. Attach the reCAP Mason Jar FLIP Lid and shake until smooth.
  5. Take it outside and paint directly on the pavement.

Tips for better results: Use multiple jars for different colors, adjust the food coloring for brighter or softer shades, stir or shake before using if it settles, and use thicker brushes for bold lines. The reCAP Mason Jar FLIP Lid makes storage easy and play mess free!
