Blackberry Freezer Jam, Simplified

Wellness habits stick when they're simple and prepared ahead of time. This reset is all about freezer prep: small, nourishing routines that make healthy choices easier. One of our favorites is blackberry freezer jam, no canning required, just real ingredients, a few minutes of prep, and homemade jam whenever you need it.

Why freezer jam? It skips the canning process while keeping that fresh, fruit-forward flavor: great on toast, yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, or baking, and it stores beautifully for weeks or months. Swap in strawberries or blueberries depending on what you have on hand.

Prep time: 15 minutes · Yields: about 32 tablespoons

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups crushed blackberries (about 2¼ lb)
  • 5¼ cups organic cane sugar
  • 3/4 cup water, 6 tablespoons classic pectin
  • 6 half-pint (8 oz) glass Mason jars

How to make it:

  1. Place the crushed blackberries in a large bowl, add the sugar, mix well, and let stand 10 minutes.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine water and pectin. Bring to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly, and boil hard for 1 minute.
  3. Add the hot pectin mixture to the fruit and stir for 3 minutes.
  4. Ladle into mason jars, leaving 1/2 inch of headspace.
  5. Apply a reCAP FLIP Lid and refrigerate until set (no more than 24 hours).

Tip: Crush the blackberries one layer at a time with a potato masher for the best texture. Storage: refrigerate up to 3 weeks or freeze up to 1 year.

Make freezer prep a habit: Reusable lids make it simple to prep, store, freeze, and use homemade jam without disposable containers or extra cleanup. When food is ready and accessible, better habits come naturally. Shop the FLIP Lid →
