Homemade Dog Treats with Peanut Butter & Bacon

Yield: about 30 large treats

Soft-baked, flavorful, and made with ingredients you can trust: pumpkin, peanut butter, and a bacon glaze make these treats an easy way to spoil your pup. Recipe inspired by Pinch of Yum.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp melted bacon grease
  • 1 cup pumpkin

How to make it:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine the pumpkin, 1/2 cup peanut butter, eggs, and oil in a bowl.
  3. Add the baking soda and flour, stirring until a stiff dough forms.
  4. Knead lightly until the flour is fully incorporated.
  5. Roll out the dough and cut into dog bone shapes (or small circles).
  6. Bake 15 minutes.

Bacon glaze: Whisk the melted bacon grease with the remaining 1/4 cup peanut butter until smooth, drizzle over the baked treats, and let harden before serving.

Tips: Use natural peanut butter without xylitol (toxic to dogs), cut smaller treats for smaller dogs, and let treats cool completely before serving.

Storage:Mason jar with a reCAP FLIP lid makes it easy to shake a few out during training or walks. Treats keep about 1 week at room temperature or 2 weeks refrigerated.
