Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in a Mason Jar

Layer the dry ingredients in a jar and you've got a ready-to-bake cookie mix that makes a thoughtful holiday, teacher, or housewarming gift; easy enough for the whole family to help assemble.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup white sugar,
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
    *Helpful tool: an ice cream scoop, to gently pack each layer

How to layer it:

  1. Pour the rolled oats into a clean mason jar.
  2. Add the white sugar layer.
  3. Add the chocolate chips.
  4. Add the brown sugar, packing gently with the ice cream scoop.
  5. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then add as the final layer.
  6. Seal with a reCAP FLIP lid and attach a gift tag with baking instructions.

Baking instructions for the tag:

  1. Preheat to 350°F.
  2. Mix 2 eggs, 3/4 cup softened butter, and 1 tsp vanilla in a bowl.
  3. Pour in the jar mix, and combine well.
  4. Drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto a cookie sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake 12 to 15 minutes until lightly golden.
