The story behind the PUMP Lid:
The inspiration for the PUMP cap came from the reCAP Mason Jars founder, Karen Rzepecki.
Karen hates waste and wanted to reuse a Mason jar to refill hand soap. Most reusable soap containers have small openings that make it difficult to refill. Mason jars are the perfect solution. Not only does the pump work with hand soap, but throughout Karen’s house you’ll find the reCAP PUMP used with dish soap (husband Steve’s favorite reCAP use), lotions, oils, and sanitizers.

I really like the pump, but found it near impossible to clean it. I was using the pump for mustard and no matter how many times I pumped soapy water through it, the mustard would not come out in the inside part where the spring is located. I even tried soaking it overnight. I finally took the pump completely apart to clean it, but with not knowing there was a little ball inside. It went down the drain, making the pump unusable. I reached out to reCAP through a message via the website, but a year later, still have not received a reply.

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this. We are happy you enjoy the pump and are using it in a creative way. For the cleaning tips we recommend rinsing the pump and head regularly with warm water and soap to remove buildup. The dip tube should be removed for this process and cleaned as well. We recommend soaking for 5-10 min and rinsing, then pump some warm water through the pump dispenser once it is assembled again and secure. With mustard specifically there may be some additional buildup or even discoloration on the dip tube. We do have replacement parts available on our website if needed. We hope this helps!

The pump lid fits perfectly and will not rust since it is plastic(looks like metal).

As a repeat customer, I didn't hesitate to order again. My pump lid worked for years and only failed until I dropped it. Otherwise, I feel like it would have never truly failed.
